Elon Musk, known for his bold and unconventional decisions, has hinted at a significant change to one of the world’s most popular social media platforms. Following his acquisition of Twitter, Musk has indicated that he might replace the iconic blue Twitter bird logo with an ‘X’, aligning it with the name he has been using for the platform – X Corp.

Twitter’s Transition to X Corp
Ever since Elon Musk acquired Twitter, he’s been referring to the platform as X Corp. While this has been its official legal name, Musk now seems set on making ‘X’ the customer-facing brand for Twitter – or as he’s described it, the “soon-to-be-former-bird-app”.
In a tweet over the weekend, Musk suggested he’d be ready to replace Twitter’s bird logo with an ‘X’ logo by Sunday or Monday, provided he received an adequate design. Shortly afterward, Musk tweeted an animation of an ‘X’ graphic on a black background, indicating that he found a design to his liking.
End of Twitter’s Iconic Bird Logo?
The Twitter blue bird logo and brand name appear to be on their way out, according to Musk’s posts on the platform. Linda Yaccarino, Twitter’s ‘CEO’, hasn’t yet addressed the changes, despite leading the company Musk acquired in the previous year.
Twitter’s media contact email has been replaced with a bot, limiting the scope for further comment or clarification. Musk, however, continues to share his intentions and future plans for the social media platform with his followers.
Musk’s ‘X’ Obsession
Elon Musk has exhibited a certain fondness for the letter ‘X’. His newly-formed AI company, ‘x.AI’, reflects this preference, and Musk has often mentioned his desire to have ‘X’ as the name for PayPal, following the merger of his original company with another to form the online payments giant.
Despite the controversies and debates, Twitter remains Twitter and its blue bird logo continues to soar. However, with Musk at the helm, changes could occur at any time. As we’ve come to expect from this unpredictable billionaire, nothing is set in stone and everything is subject to his innovative, if occasionally whimsical, touch.
